June 10 - Olympiastadion, Munich, Germany Bruce rocks Germany with a 26 song set
including 6 songs from The River!-Setting a record for songs played from this
album on this tour. Jackson Cage makes an overdue return for the first time in
2003 and Sherry Darlin' appears to be settling in for the summer. Backstreets
makes a welcomed return as well, and the tour premier of Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out
rounds out the set. The encore's open with Further On Up The Road and feature
the so-far permanent cover of Nick Lowe's Seven Night's To Rock. Kitty's Back (Morning
check)/Jungleland/The Rising/Lonesome Day/Further On Up The Road/ Set:
June 12 - Hamburger AOL Arena, Hamburg, Germany WOW! 27 songs round out another impressive set from Bruce & The Boys! Atlantic City & No Surrender make there way back. Surprises included the very rare Downbound Train & Racing In The Street. Tenth Avenue finishes off the set once again. This time the rarely played Hungry Heart kicks off the encores in style with special guest Wolfgang Niedecken. It certainly looks like Bruce loves playin' in Germany!
June 14 - Parken, Copenhagen, Denmark An impressive 26 song set that includes a 9 song encore and a couple tour premiers, Take 'Em As They Come & Point Blank. Bruce shakes up the encores by kicking off with Darlington County and tops off Dancing In The Dark with Glory Days. Soundcheck: Born In The U.S.A.(Acoustic)/The
Rising/Lonesome Day/Dollhouse (uncertain)/Point Blank/ Set:
June 16 - Olympic Stadium, Helsinki, Finland Bruce reverts back to a 2002 standard setlist during his first nght in Helsinki.
June 17 - Olympic Stadium, Helsinki, Finland A few setlist changes make this show an interesting one for night two. The BIUSA acoustic opener is shelved, making way for The Rising as the opener again. Candy's Room returns for the first time since Dublin on May 31. Darkness is also in the mix. A surprising setlist change replaces the standard, You're Missing for the very first time on the Rising Tour, with a full band version of The River! She's The One makes a long awaited return. A triple shot of River classics kick off the first encore: Cadillac Ranch, Hungry Heart & Ramrod take the opening spots this time around. Seven Nights To Rock drops out of the set for the first time since it's tour premier on May 24 in France.
June19 - Valle Hovin, Oslo, Norway A similar set to Helsinki with Sherry Darlin and Out In The Street returning to the fold. Promised Land closes the set. Where The Bands Are makes a long awaited return to kick off the encores and Seven Nights To Rock returns after a couple days off.
June 21 - Ullevi Stadium, Gothenburg, Sweden Night one in Sweden has Bruce returning to his normal set with the return of You're Missing. Ties That Bind, Working On The Highway, No Surrender, Thunder Road and a full band The River are highlights along with the Beatles cover, Twist & Shout to finish off the night.
June 22 - Ullevi Stadium, Gothenburg, Sweden The second night features some interesting changes and mixes things up a bit including The Promised Land to open the show. also featured were Jackson Cage and Atlantic City, which afterwords has Bruce commenting: "so the stadium is still standing? We'll fix that later..." The River once again replaces You're Missing. Other highlights included Growin' Up, Mary's Place featuring "Dancing In The Street", Racing In The Street & No Surrender to rap up the main set! The encores open with Thunder Road and feature the Detroit Medley AND Twist & Shout! Quite a show from Bruce and E Street to conclude thier visit to Swedan.
June 25 - Ernst-Happel Stadium Sale, Vienna, Austria A very short 23 song set opening with The Promised Land and featuring the full band The River (in place of You're Missing), a full band Incident and Thunder Road. The encores feature Bobby Jean, Ramrod (with a little "Roll Over Bethoven") and Glory Days. There was some confusion regarding wheather Dancing In The Dark was played or not. Upon further investigation: It was!
June 28 - San Siro, Milan, Italy A few surprises are sliped in for the final show of the Europeon leg of the tour. A cloudy night in Milan is greted by a steller performance by Bruce. During Emty Sky rain pours down as Bruce sings "though I know the river is dry…"; and during Waitin' On A Sunny Day the band was really "workin' with the rain fallin' down." An impromptu Who'll Stop The Rain followed capped off with Growin' Up. The tour premier of Follow That Dream also highlights the set that included Thunder Road and No Surrender to close. Bobby Jean kicks off the encores with the usual standards. For the grande finale Bruce trhrows in Rosalita! It looks like Bruce is ready to come home!
The U.S. Homecoming!
July 15 - Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ After all the hype and anticipation leading up to this very special first of many Jersey nights, the fans congregated at Giants Stadium for the first time since 1985 to see if the Boss still had what it takes to rock n' roll in front of a "hometown" crowd. While the set was pretty standard and the E Street Band a little rusty after a couple weeks off since the conclusion of the Europeon stand, Bruce and Co. managed to lift the crowd up off thier "asses" for the homecoming show. Highlights included an acoustic BIUSA opener, Promised Land, My Love, Darkness, Sherry Darlin', The River, No Surrender and Thunder Road as a last minute audible to close out the set. The Encores featured a riproaring Ramrod, which had Bruce trying to bail out on a less than enthusiastic crowd. After saying "Goodnight" and leaving the stage with the band, Bruce left Roy Bitton all alone to play his piano solo. During this time, a young boy came on stage and placed a red baseball cap on Roy's head as he continued to play. Bruce returned with Clarence, Steve and the rest of E Street to ask one more time: "Are we in Jersey?....What time is it?........It's swamp time!" Seven Nights To Rock makes it's first "official" appearance in Jersey. Before LOHAD Bruce took a moment to voice his disaproval of the since concluded war in iraq and to question wheather our Government has been honest with it's people regarding the campaign. "People with all kinds of political beliefs come to see us---I like that, we welcome them all.....It's always wrong, never more so than when there are real lives at stake.... It's not a Republican or Democrat question, it's not a liberal or conservative question, it's an American question.... protecting our democracy we ask our sons and daughters to die for." But the biggest cheers of the night came shortly thereafter. Bruce standing front and center with the entire band with his arms crossed over along with Clarence, as the now very enthusiastic audience screams for more, Bruce and E Street delivered! A stunner by opening night standards. Bruce said "This is the one! This is it!" Then all was rightious on E Street: Rosalita(!!!) rocked Giants stadium for the first time ever! Not too shaby for opening night in "the swamps of Jersey"! Just wait 'till night two!
July 17 - Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ Night two brought a fresher E Street Band and a powerful performance by Jersey's own, Bruce Springsteen. It looked like more of a New Jersey crowd showed up tonight and Bruce noticed! A steller set included many surprises including Night, Candy's Room and "for the one timers": Growin' Up. The set also featured an incredible version of Jungleland, Hungry Heart and yes...Rosalita once again rocked the Giants Stadium crowd. Absolutely fantastic!
July 18 - Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ A wild rainy night in East Rutherford brought out an energetic but thematic performance by Bruce & The E Street Band. Who'll Stop The Rain opens the show and makes a rare appearance. Other highlights included The Ties That Bind, and Something In The Night, which gave the show a haunting feel for this stormy night. With the "rain falling down" in buckets Bruce whipped the Jersey crowd into a frenzy with Waitin' On A Sunny Day, You Can Look and Mary's Place by which time the rain had tapered off. She's The One and Racing In The Street were nice surprises for many die-hards and the first encore threw everyone a curve ball with six songs including Caddilac Ranch, 96 Tears (featuring Garland Jeffries), Glory Days & the Detriot Medley. Some more light rain fell as Bruce sang, "the rain is falling down" in My City Of Ruins to cap off a very haunting and thematic set. Rosalita rocked the New Jersey crowd for the third consecutive night! Once again Bruce and the Band provided another incredible night at the Meadowlands for all the New Jersey fans.
July 21 - Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ Another wild rainy night in East Rutherford brought out an energetic performance by Bruce & The E Street Band. A 27 song set featured Jackson Cage, Night and Trapped. With the "rain falling down" in buckets, Bruce whipped the Jersey crowd into a frenzy with Waitin' On A Sunny Day once again. For You and Promised Land followed up. Buckets of rain dunped on the very enthusiastic Jersey crowd during Out In The Street(which featured an excerpt of "Walking In The Rain") and Mary's Place. To keep the pace Bruce went with Caddilac Ranch instead of the originally planned Incident On 57th Street this time out-Maybe next time! The encores brought on the biggest surprise of the night with Vini "Mad Dog" Lopez guesting on drums for Spirit In The Night! Some more light rain fell as Bruce sang, "the rain is falling down" in My City Of Ruins for the second consecutive night. Rosalita rocked the New Jersey crowd for the fourth consecutive night! An inpromptu Hungry heart was squeezed in between Rosie and Dancing In The Dark. Another incredible rainy night in the swamps of Jersey! "Let it rain let it rain let it rain"-It seems to be better that way! Soundcheck: The Rising/Lonesome Day/Streets Of Fire/Trapped On the original setlists but not played: Point Blank (Typed List), Sandy (Typed List), Incident On 57th Street (Written List.)
July 24 - Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ The fifth night featured clear skies, a nice cool breeze, a few rareties and a mellow but steady pace for Bruce and the boys. Highlights included Promised Land to open, only the second tour performance of Streets Of Fire (not performed since the Lexington, KY show in November 2002), a country hoedown version of Workin' On The Highway, which featured Clarence on the washboard, She's The One, Meeting Across The River and Jungleland complete with Soozie Tyrell on violin! The encores featured 4th Of July, Asbury Park(Sandy), Ramrod with Ally Wienberg guesting on keyboards, and Rosalita. Soundcheck: Kitty's Back/Streets Of Fire
July 26 - Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ It just didn't seem right. A very short and misguided show from Bruce and the band. Very few surprises including Adam Raised A Cain, Atlantic City, Two Hearts and Tenth Avenue Freeze -Out. The material centered around The Rising & Born In The USA material for this lackluster crowd. A very dissapointing outing for the Boss, who was to celebrate Patti's birthday after the show in the Giants Stadium suites. This could explain a lot. But many fans left unhappy and felt cheated by this sub-par performance on night six. Lets hope the seventh night has more lucky charms in store for us all. Soundcheck: Kitty's Back
July 27 - Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ After the previous night's debacle, this show seemed to right all wrongs. A Strong opening with Downbound Train led to a very tight(but short 23 song set) this time out. Candy's Room, Saint In The City, Meeting Across The River and Backstreets greeted a very receptive crowd for the final July night at Giants Stadium. The encores blew everyone away with a rocking Kitty's Back, My City Of Ruins(with "the rain falling down" once again!) and Rosalita. After the usual final song(Dancing In The Dark) Bruce threw in Seven Nights To Rock for good measure to close out the July stand. After thunderous applause, Bruce waved goodnight and reminded everyone that they would "see ya in August!" We can't wait! Soundcheck: BIUSA/Real Man/Pony Boy(possibly)/Lucky Town/Streets Of Philladelphia
August 1 - Gillette Stadium, Foxboro, MA A foggy night in Foxboro greets an energetic crowd for the first of two shows at the new home of the New England Patriots. Promised Land opens a generic set which includes My Love, Prove It All Night, Darlington County and Backstreets. The encores kicked off with a tribute to the recently departed Sam Phillips who penned the Elvis cover Mystery Train. Tenth Avenue Freeze- Out, Seven Nights To Rock and the now infamous Rosalita rounded out the night.
August 2 - Gillette Stadium, Foxboro, MA Night two in Foxboro brings yet another standard show from Bruce and E Street with a few goodies sprinkled in. But the cult favorites were once again shelved for the more recent Rising and Born In The USA material. Adam Raised A Cain opened yet another Saturday night performance(as it did for the 7/26 show in NJ last week....Coincidence?) Candy's Room, She's The One and Racing In The Street were highlightes of the main set. The encores opened with a bristling performance of Night and also featured Hungry Heart, Glory Days and the ever so popular Rosalita. At the conclusion of this show Bruce beamed "See ya at Fenway" to the enthusiastic Foxboro crowd as he left the stage.
August 6 - PNC Park, Pittsburgh, PA An incredible set which opened with Jackson Cage and featured the rare Streets Of Fire, the incredibly rare Blinded By The Light, the rare Rising track Further On Up The Road, Hungry Heart, Glory Days with Joe Grushecky guesting on guitar and Rosalita of course!
August 8 - Lincoln Memorial Field, Philadelphia, PA Opening Night in Philly! Bruce and Co. christened the new stadium with a surprising set that featured The Promised Land to kick things off, Something In The Night, Sherry Darlin' and something no one expected: A full band version of Lost In The Flood! The encores featured Night, Seven Nights To Rock and Rosalita.
August 9 - Lincoln Memorial Field, Philadelphia, PA Another incredible set from the Boss that featured Trapped, For You, Spirit In The Night, She's The One(with harmonica solo by Bruce), Tougher Than The Rest (by request), the return of Thunder Road. The encores featured Where The Bands Are, the very rare I'm A Rocker, Hungry Heart, Glory Days, Rosalita and Jon Landou guesting on Dancing In The Dark.
August 11 - Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA
On a "balmy summer night" Bruce Springsteen and his E Streeters blew the minds of everyone in attendence with a steller set filled with many goodies and a few very big surprises! For starters they kicked off the evening in grand style with a world premier performance of the Bruce penned Dave Edmunds hit Small Things (featuring the entire E Street Band for the first time ever!) If that wasn't enough to wet everyone's appetite(and it was!) Philly also got treated to classics such as Night, a tour premier of Be True, Atlantic City, Saint In The City, a riproaring Out In The Street featuring an added chorus of "C'mon baby, Meet me on South Street!", Streets Of Philadelphia and Thunder Road (by request) closed out the main set. The encores exploded with two more requests: The first US tour version of Incident On 57th Street and I'm Goin' Down, which hadn't been played live since 1986 according to Bruce. A "full moon rising" over Lincoln Field provided an impromptu performance of Ramrod which had Bruce mimmicking Frankenstien and carousing the crowd into howling at the Moon (which was displayed on the moniters for all to see) Bruce asked the extactic crowd,"Can I get a oooooooooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuu?" and they responded with reciprocating howls! Bruce called himself a "Warewolf" perhaps remembering his storyteller days. The second encore started off with the usual tunes but provided an extra unexpected surprise for many fans with a different intro to the summertime classic Rosalita: Pretty Flamingo! - Making it's tour debute for the first time since 1978! After Rosie and Dancing In The Dark the Philly crowd was not about to let Bruce leave the stage without a thunderous standing ovation and one more song. Performed very infrequently this tour and just the other night, I'm A Rocker sent everyone home with a very large smile on thier faces. Three nights in Philly had come to an end with some incredible memories to last a lifetime! From small things indeed big things one day come!- And they did for all in attendence Monday night!
August 13 - U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago, IL Arriving on stage to the sounds of Frank Sinatra's "My Kind of Town," Bruce and E Street kicked off a pretty standard show with Adam Raised A Cain, My Love, Prove It All Night and the opening night threesome of Rising songs. During Waitin' On A Sunny Day the power went out and the stage lights went dark. Bruce found flashlightes and got the crowd on it's feet with an extended sing-a-long. After the lights went back up Bruce worked off the sweat with Working On The Highway. Backstreets returned for the Chicago crowd. Where The Bands Are and Seven Nights To Rock highlighted the encores with Rosie thrown in for good measure. Three reprises of Dancing In The Dark brought the show over the 3 hour mark.
August 16 - Pac Bell Park, San Francisco, CA Arriving on stage to an old recording of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" Bruce and E Street kicked off tonight's show with The Promised Land. Other favorites included My Love Will Not Let You Down, Prove It All Night and Something In The Night Darlington County settled in for the night and the tour premier of a full band Across The Border had Max on the rim, Danny on accordian and Nils on pedal steel guitar. Seven Nights To Rock highlighted the encores with Rosalita and Dancing In The Dark to top it off as usual. |
